What's Happening In Jiu-Jitsu
-#1 pound-for-pound no-gi athletes Dante Leon & Helena Crevar have officially accepted their invitations to the ADCC World Championships (as recognized by the ADCC World Instagram account). Crevar will be moving up to +65kg for this World Championship.
-Finland's Santeri Lillius also accepted his invitation to the Worlds at -88kg.
-Polaris's big welterweight Grand Prix will be this weekend, Saturday July 11th. This is a bracket stacked with talent, including PJ Barch, Mateusz Szczecinski, Deandre Corbe, and more.
-The Polaris prelims, airing live on YouTube, added Emily Leyva vs Yakira Perez-Crespo Garcia as one last feature match.
-BJJ Stats 19 will feature UFC stars Patricky Pitbull and Renato Moicano facing off in a grappling match, July 31st live on FloGrappling.
-Rafael Lovato Jr. announced he will not accept his ADCC World Championship invite after his 2024 finals run, instead opting to focus on upcoming pro matches he has agreed to.
-ADCC silver medalists Jay Rodriguez and Vagner Rocha will face off at Karate Combat 62 in July. This will be Rodriguez's first match in over one year after a short split (and reunion) with his team.
-Brackets and schedule are out now for the IBJJF Asian Championship.
-PBJJF has now opened registration for their first North American championships, which will have cash prizes for champions from white to black belt.
-The IBJJF held their Curitiba Pro event, with cash prizes for the men's black belt divisions (same weights as the Crown). The champions in those brackets were Matheus Onda, Lucas Protasio, Gabriel Galvao, and Anderson Munis.
-Finishers announced their slate of big matches for the Zach Edwards Memorial event that is happening this July, headlined by Rene Sousa taking on Matt Cantwell. Cantwell had a great run at East Coast Trials this ADCC season so expect a scrap.
-ACB 21 went down in Russia. Winners from the event include Pedro Marinho, Kaynan Duarte, Pouya Rahmani, and more.
-Mikey Musumeci has accepted an offer for a UFC BJJ match against Bryce Mitchell. Mitchell, an MMA fighter, has taken issue with Musumeci's guard pulling in matches. He was most recently in grappling action when he was flying triangled by Landon Elmore.
-Gordon Ryan issued a challenge to Kron Gracie for a grappling match after a back-and-forth between the two on Instagram. Ryan had retired earlier this year but appears willing to entertain the idea, at least.
