Now, we get positive feedback from people all the time, though it usually comes after Laura asks someone a direct question like, “What do you think of the blog?” and I’m standing inches away, so a negative response would be not only incredible awkward, but potentially damaging to the friendship and/or father-daughter relationship.
But you won’t believe the personalized e-mails I’ve been receiving lately (at least, they all start with my name). Just today I received one from Bill Clinton. Most of it has to do health care reform, but I will include only the relevant parts to this blog, and add words in parenthesis so you don’t lose the general meaning.

You did it!
There’s no doubt about it: Your generous support and unwavering commitment to (something about social media and the Triangle) put it across the finish line. … This is truly a historic moment and it would have been impossible without you and the support of (your wife).
But, the fight’s not over (some people still don’t know what to do in the Triangle). I’m asking for your help to (keep doing what you’re doing).
But Bill Clinton is retired, so perhaps he has more time on his hands to read the blog. Then how do you explain Nancy Pelosi, who encouraged me to continue writing about the Triangle even though health care reform has passed? Perhaps she was worried that since I will now have health care even if I’m unemployed, I will quit working on The Daily Triangle and all other jobs.

… As proud as we are of this great achievement for America, it would be a mistake to think that this fight has ended now that reform is in the history books … Now let us show the world that even after making history together, we still don’t quit!
In the past week I have also received really inspiring e-mails from Dennis Kucinich, James Carville, and all three major Democratic candidates running for the U.S. Senate seat in North Carolina. I can only imagine who I would hear from if I had actually made a single political donation in my life.
Interestingly enough, I did not hear from Joe Biden, who actually came to Durham last week. Which is too bad because I had some good recommendations for him. It is still not too late for Al Gore, who is coming to Duke on April 8.
