Here’s my Triangle thank you list – so much to be grateful for this season:
10. Free public transportation outside my door. When is this ever a bad community investment? Thank you, powers that be, for making it possible for me to roll out of bed at 9:00, desperately print out my homework at 9:25, and then run for the bus at 9:30. Without you, I would have to become a bit more responsible for the commuting process, which we can all agree is a poor idea.
9. Bad weather days that mean rain instead of sleet or snow. Let me just take this opportunity to say once more – ha, ha. I live in more sunshine than you.
8. Biscuits, the world’s most perfect breakfast food, and pilates, the counterbalance to biscuits, creating a zen balance with excessive sodium.
7. That guy who bought my friends and I drinks before discovering we were all married; don’t worry, you’ll find true love someday. We’re just grateful that we cleaned up well enough to warrant a martini.
6. The Chapel Hill-Durham-Raleigh trifecta, creating the best combined college town in the world.
5. The undergraduates who constantly remind me of how much older I am – but then, remind me of how much wiser I am, too. (Vampire movies? Really?)
4. Statistics class, for reminding me that there are still a lot of things I have to learn. And sadly, one of them has to be hypothesis testing. Sigh.
3. Iron Duke alums, for proving that money really can buy anything, even smart football players who manage to score now and then.
2. Normalcy, for entering my life when I left NYC behind. Well, sort of. You always need a little crazy to keep things interesting, right?
1. I should probably say my incredible husband, so I will. But, also, once again, biscuits. Did I mention the biscuits?!
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
