What’s to Miss?

So far we’ve been highlighting some of the more positive aspects of moving down South.

Of course, we’ll also miss the massive vibrance of New York City and our old home.  There are a few key things we’re already longing for:

- Having jobs

- Shops expressly for cupcakes on every block

- A proper amount of attitude and moxy

- Being anonymous

- Central Park

- Normal summer heat (as opposed to “go outside and you might die” heat)

We’ve been informed that transplants from NYC usually end up in downtown Durham – they don’t mind a slight amount of grittiness.  Only suburban lame-os settle in planned communities like our apartment complex, where retirees enjoy pleasant games of cribbage in the clubhouse.

For now, however, we’ll enjoy being a part of the sameness.  Imagine living in a place where everyone has the exact same ample square footage, dishwasher, washer-dryer, central air, maintenance service, and pool.  Crazy that people would be allowed to carry out their lives in such extravagance!  We are truly living large.

Finally, thanks to everyone in our immediate family and perhaps beyond who’s been checking out the blog as we settle in.  We look forward to more helpful tips like this one:

Matthew (my brother):  Liked the blog …  and Harold’s food post.  Did you see KFC’s new sandwich where fried chicken is the bread?  I’m watching a fat guy eat one right now.

Matthew later investigated and revealed that between the pieces of bread chicken, there is bacon and not one, but two kinds of cheese.

The aforementioned sandwich in all its horrific glory.

Really, America?  Really?!

In a last bit of “Really, America?” news, Harold read that dog-sized jerseys are being sold on the NFL’s website, which came to light because people are buying ones with Michael Vick’s number and putting them on their pooch.

Sigh.
